Super Fun Engagement Photos
We recommend photographing your engagement and your wedding YOUR way. These precious moments are historical perspective of who you are. If you let others' opinions and ideas influence you too much then the images can be more of a reflection of them. So be authentic. Be you. And have your engagement and wedding YOUR way.
Engagement Photos with a Backstory
Last week we shot Meredith & Cody’s engagement photos. But before we get too far ahead, let’s back up and fill in the backstory. We met Meredith and her entourage at the Whitestone Country Inn Bridal Show. We had an instant connection with her. A few days later we connected via email to discuss Mile Marker Images being their wedding photographer. A meeting was set. They choose our premium package, “The Lane” which includes an engagement session. Their wedding is in July and they’ve been engaged for quite some time.
Don’t Give Up on Your Engagement Plans
However, Cody’s original plan of popping the question in a hot air balloon was foiled by high winds and bad weather. But he still had credit with the balloon company. They asked if we could still shoot the balloon flight. YES! But I insisted we add a time re-create the proposal.
They chose Middle Tennessee Hot Air Adventures in Franklin, TN and their "Dawn Patrol" package. These guys were on it! They had the equipment off the trailer and set up in just a few minutes. And even thought Meredith & Cody were already engaged, they were giddy with excitement.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
We had perfect weather with clear skies and light winds. I got to ride with the chase vehicle – those guys were fantastic and accommodating to me. I told them I wanted shots with no utility lines interrupting the shots. They never let me down. They also stopped quickly when I said, “Let me have look here!”
Capturing True Engagement Moments
As the balloon began its descent I was able to get some tighter shots. Getting tighter (closer) adds faces and emotions. Authentic engagement photos capture true emotions. I think my favorite shot is her hand and ring on the support – Cody caught me, but Meredith was still caught up in the magic of the flight.
Get Down on One Knee
After the flight, we headed back to the launch site. Once there, they climbed into to canopy of balloon preparing for flight. This is where we created the "proposal." I love the colors of the canopy and all the shadows of trees around it. I love Cody's excitement and joy. And I love how authentic Meredith behaved. All in all, we had a great shoot.
