Wedding - Remember When?

Wedding Photos are the Mile Markers of your memory. Just as mile markers are placeholders along the freeway, so are photos placeholders in your memory. Photos are the mile markers of your memory – vivid reminders, full of detail & emotion. And that’s how we got our name too!

Wedding Memories

Our memories are curious things. And weddings are very special events full of sights, sounds, color and emotion. Many of us remember sounds and colors more easily, while others remember emotions more vividly. It varies greatly person to person. What does not vary is all the memories associated with a photo. A photo doesn’t simply hold the memories of the captured moment. Photos jog memories that often came much before and long after the image was taken.

My wife took this of me. Even now, the cuteness of the little girl dreaming of being a bride someday still lingers in my mind.

How quick a photo is captured has no direct correlation to the duration of memories contained. A photo may be as quick as 1/500th of second; the memory can hold sentences, voices, sounds, smells, feelings, emotions and even reactions. We often hear the highest praise for those with a photographic memory. A true photographic memory is quite rare. Each of us has the ability to remember visual aspects of what we see. But very few of us can remember details.

Everyone of us have two blind spots that our brains fill in the missing info - continuously!

Blind Spots - a metaphor for weddings

The camera always gets the details. These details are often left out of our vision. That’s right, your eyes and mind often leave out details. Each of our eyes is connected to the brain via the optic nerve. The optic nerve is connected to the retina. The retina captures images and sends the info to the brain. But where the optic nerve connects to the retina, there is a huge area that is NOT captured. It’s a blind spot that our mind is constantly generating and regenerating info to fill in that area. Weddings have blind spots too.

Wedding Photos & Mile Markers

So you may ask, what’s that have to do with my wedding photos? The correlation is quite simple. I took the time to understand how our eyes work compared to how my camera works. And I see like a camera, which is not easy to do. Now add that I study brides, grooms, love and light all the time. All so I can understand how you behave. And your wedding photos should contain all the best parts of the memory created. Because wedding photos are the mile markers of your memory.
